50 Brides Return; U.S. Not Like The Movies
BRISBANE, Monday – More than 50 Australian brides of American Servicemen returned by the Matsonia today, some homesick and other apparently disappointed because they found the United States not always “like the movies or the magazine advertisements.”
Among the women were divorcees, widows and some who were “just fed up with America.”
Some of the women said they felt American women resented their arrival as brides of U.S. Servicemen.” Others found everything in American moving at an exhausting pace.
Other simply said they had made a mistake and wanted to forget about it.
