Five GI Brides in Omaha Today

Twenty-eight war brides from Europe will arrive here Wednesday, the Union Pacific Railroad reported Tuesday night.

Five of the war brides will get off here. The rest will go on west. Their identities were not available.

Before the train reach here one bride is scheduled to get off at Clinton, Ia., another at Ames.

The English war bride and baby of T5 William L. James of Meadow Grove, Neb. are among the passengers on the Queen Mary this trip, the Madison Country Red Cross has been advised.

The passenger capacities of five GI bride ships were reduced Tuesday to provide added safety. The United States Army said in London that reductions were made to conform to lifeboat capacities.

Previously each child under 1 year old was not counted for the allocation of lifeboat space the Associated Press noted.
